Sr. Software Development Engineer

Thermage? is a medical device company dedicated to developing and commercializing advanced radio frequency (RF) based technologies for cosmetic/aesthetic applications. Our introductory device, the ThermaCool TC? System, combines the known reliability of RF tissue heating with Thermage patented innovations that enable nonablative thermal modification of skin and underlying tissue. We are currently hiring a Sr. Software Development Engineer to work in our headquarters in Hayward, California.

Responsibilities include software design, test, and validation for the development of Radio-frequency apparatus for medical application.

This position reports to: Director of Software Development

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

? Specify, design, test, and document software systems to achieve performance, patient safety, regulatory requirements, patents, and corporate objectives.
? Develop and test prototype code using a variety of prototyping methodologies. Organize, plan, lead and manage team projects in alignment with project goals.
? Research and analyze data such as customer and marketing requests and specifications to determine feasibility of design.
? Troubleshoot hardware-software interface issues. Support transfer to manufacturing.
? Stay up-to-date and follow all procedures related to this job that can affect the quality of products or services provided to our customers.

Experience Education Training Skills Traits:

? BSEE/BSCS or MSEE/MSCS plus 6 to 10 years experience the development of SW for embedded systems, and at least three years in medical devices.
? Proficiency in C, C++, object oriented, and assembly language programming.
? Proven track record of successful product development using a variety of design tools and prototyping techniques.
? Basic knowledge of project planning and management including use of PM software such as MS Project.
? Ability to focus on and achieve scheduled milestones. Knowledge of FDA Quality System and Software requirements for Design Control.
? Strong team-working and communication skills. A drive to get the job done in the face of obstacles and time constraints.
? Demonstrated ability to multi-task.

Language and Verbal Skills

? Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering specifications, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
? Ability to write reports, specifications, and procedure manuals.
? Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of peers and managers.

Math Skills

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to read technical and clinical literature and documents and extract important concepts.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to perform lifting tasks of up to 10 pounds for short durations. Duties of this job may involve standing and/or walking for extended periods of time. Duties also involve daily keyboard data entry. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some work will be required to be performed in animal and clinical laboratories, where the employee must employ standard techniques to protect against chemical and biological hazards. Some prototyping activities will involve moderate noise levels (i.e. power drill) and moderate dust or debris exposure.
