Manager of Marketing Communications

We have an immediate career opportunity for a Manager of Marketing Communications in our Marketing & Sales organization. This is a challenging role in which you will have the opportunity to develop your project management, public relations and promotional abilities, and demonstrate your knowledge and skill in marketing communications while you work with some of the most advanced projects in the satellite industry.

 

Your key role will be to initiate and support communications projects in the areas of marketing communications including: advertising and promotional programs, public relations and trade shows, and internet-based communications. This includes participation in development of plans for product promotion and company image in support of marketing objectives, and preparation of materials for external communications and management communications.

 

The essential functions and responsibilities of the position include the following:

 

? Recommend and facilitate direct mailings/e-mailings, advertising, exhibits, external and internal and internal web communications and special events.

? Maintain tradeshow and conference calendars; act as interface with conference coordinators.

? Identify the need for and timing of all company press releases; draft press release content and work with appropriate individuals for approval and release; create press kits.

? Maintain and procure customer gifts inventory (give-aways) and track distribution history.

? Coordinate generation of internal company communications such as newsletters, executive speeches, and company-wide presentations; maintain standard presentations and other standard collateral for the department; review proposal materials for consistency in company image and key messages, and recommend improvements.

? Respond to external requests for information.

? Coordinate and support certain special events such as customer receptions, User?s Conferences or other activities to gain public attention through the press without advertising directly.

? Evaluate advertising and promotion programs for compatibility with company goals and messages; serve as liaison to the advertising agency.

? Support and coordinate satellite launch events.

? Conduct research for proper business and cultural protocol as needed.

? Recommend and maintain memberships in professional societies and organizations as appropriate.

? Observe social, economic, and political trends that might affect the company, and make recommendations to enhance the company?s image on the basis of those trends.

? Manage the Marcom budget.

 

 

The candidate normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, but receives general guidance on new assignments; determines methods and procedures on new assignments, and may provide guidance to other personnel; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.


Minimum Requirements: BS/BA degree or equivalent in Business or related field; MS/MBA desirable, plus ten years of marketing communications or comparable experience with public relations, advertising and promotional programs, utilizing effective communication skills.
