Associate Scientist

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs and documents experiments independently, in accordance with written procedures and/or under the direction of the supervisor. Demonstrates the ability to identify and troubleshoot problems arising during the execution of experiments. Capable of independently addressing technical issues based on training and experience.

* Performs experiments in accordance with written procedures and/or under the direction of a supervisor.
* Develops routine analytical methods using general analytical equipment and techniques.
* Assists in the development and training of peers and less skilled employees in execution of analyses and/or the use of specialized equipment.
* Participates at appropriate department meetings.
* Initiates, executes and manages validations for established methods with minimal supervision.
* Manages equipment calibrations/qualifications with minimal supervision.
* Develops analytical methods using advanced analytical instrumentation and techniques.
* Represents the group at appropriate meetings.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

* Minimum qualifications: MS degree in Analytical Chemistry and 2 years relevant experience or a BS degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. (Associate I)
* Minimum qualifications: MS degree in Analytical Chemistry with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience or BS degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience. (Associate II)
* A good understanding of/experience with GMPs and regulatory guidance.
* Experience with the development and validation of analytical methods.
* Ability to think analytically along with good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
* Must have experience with HPLC analysis and other required analytical techniques.
* Proficient in the use of a word processing and spreadsheet program.
* Possess strong technical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
