Industrial Hygiene Assistant

Our client serves the water pollution and solid waste management needs of approximately 5 million people, and is nationally recognized for innovative engineering practices in wastewater treatment, solid waste management and power generation. They are a financially strong and stable employer of nearly 2,000. They utilize state-of-the-art systems to deal with pollution control, waste reduction and infrastructure improvement and are currently gearing up for an array of future capital improvement projects.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
-Assist the Industrial Hygienist, and supplement a current staff of eight professionals
-Will perform all job duties under the direction of a Certified Industrial Hygienist
-Perform professional-level industrial hygiene and/or safety analyses; complete studies of work problems and procedures; and research, document and recommend findings of studies
-Assist in the administration and oversight safety programs to comply with local, State and Federal guidelines
-Work in the field and conduct a variety of industrial hygiene air monitoring and noise surveys
-Prepare reports based on laboratory analysis
-Survey lab ventilation hoods
-Manage and assist with annual audiogram testing
-Administer the MSDS library
-Perform calibration, maintenance, and support of the industrial hygiene equipment
-Update existing respiratory protection and hearing conservation databases
-Update the written industrial hygiene program as necessary
-Provide safety training classes and respirator fit tests

Qualifications:
-Requires experience and graduation from an accredited college or university in a major directly related to industrial health and safety.
-BS in Industrial Hygiene or related field preferred (recent grads okay)
OR experience and training in industrial hygiene and/or safety is highly desirable.
