Managing Editor/Medical Writer - Medical Association Journal (to $60s)
The Managing Editor manages and operates the editorial office; plans, coordinates, edits and proofreads manuscripts, articles and additional copy; develops publication content; edits and proofreads all copy for logic, style, consistency, accuracy, and organization; suggests methods for improvement of manuscripts to authors, when needed; plans and maintains production schedules; examines galley proofs for accuracy; supervises, coaches and develops editorial assistant.
Requisite Skills and TrainingAbility to work independently with little daily supervision; Good organization skills; Ability to work within schedules and meet strict deadlines; Ability to edit for spelling, punctuation, grammar and content; Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and databases;Effective written and oral communication skills; At least five years of editorial, including writing and editing, experience; Bachelor?s degree in journalism, English or a related field
Preferred Skills and TrainingKnowledge of medical terminology; Expertise in the editing, writing, and editorial management of healthcare publications
? Master?s degree in related field
Responsibilities:
