Oceanographer

Job Description: Join an active and growing group of Raytheon oceanographers and atmospheric scientists in Pasadena, CA. Collaborate with Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) scientists in developing an advanced ocean circulation model and applying it to solve science problems related to ocean dynamics and climate change. Research focus will be on extending a coupled ocean/atmosphere model and/or coastal and sea ice interactions.

Required Skills: BS degree in Oceanography or related discipline and 6+ years work experience with a strong background in applied mathematics or computational fluid dynamics. Ph.D. in Oceanography may substitute for work experience. Unix/Linux and parallel computing are essential (Fortran/MPI programming). Computational fluid dynamics with a particular experience in ocean modeling. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Desired Skills: Ph.D. in Oceonography preferred. Prior experience with a community user model, such as MICOM, MOM, POM, SCRUM or ROMS, is a plus. Prior knowledge of atmospheric ocean interaction models and sea ice interactions is desirable.
