Quality Control Technician - Petrochemical Industry

Job Summary:
The Quality Control Technician will be responsible for performing prescribed quality control tests, maintaining corresponding records and creating associated certification and/or control charts for raw material, product and related quality processes. Supports as directed all site activities pertinent to technical support of materials, production process, integrity of laboratory and equipment to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

The primary function of the Quality Control Technician is to conduct quality control testing for 300 raw materials and 500 products manufactured from these raw materials. A big part of the job is the testing of the raw material and manufactured product, as well as documenting the testing, preparing certificates of analysis, SPC charts then maintaining samples and records. Since many of these products require special qualification with government agencies relating to military specifications, the Quality Control Technician must be familiar with special practices and record keeping required to maintain approvals.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
-Quality: Take all appropriate actions to meet our Quality Policy expectations and to maintain the Quality System.
-HSSE: Take all appropriate actions: (1) to meet the corporate HSE expectations of "No accidents, No harm to people, and No damage to the environment" and (2) to assure CIA meets the HSSE targets, objectives and KPIs defined in its annual Performance Contract.
-Responsible for performing quality assurance testing of inbound, in process, and finished product as well as maintaining test records.
-Provide timely, accurate technical support on manufacturing to support on-time shipping
-Work with production to maintain product consistency and quality as well as facilitate ongoing improvement of production process.
-Preparation of certificates of analysis, statistical process control data and other related product documentation in support of customer quality program needs.
-Represent company with customers in matters concerning product quality or respond to customer questions on quality issues. Present a professional technical quality image to our customers and satisfy customer inquires on any product quality issues.
-Perform first echelon maintenance on laboratory test equipment.
-Produce lab blend for experimental products proposed for manufacture at facility as well as work with plant on production scale up.
-Maintain the laboratory in an orderly manner to achieve maximum efficiency and a professional appearance.
-Manage assigned special projects and in some instances direct or supervise other personnel.
-Participate in maintenance of product formulas and quality control procedures to insure they are accurate and provide maximum product fit for use.
-Ensure that all product is within specification before leaving the facility, avoiding any performance failure and potential liability.
-Balance adequate quality control and testing with a high level of production and timely service to customers.
-Assist Q.C. Manager in restoring obsolete/off spec inventory to sellable product without compromising quality.
