Quality Lab Tech

Job Summary

 

Reporting directly to Quality Control Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for the daily activity of specimen preparation, evaluation, and data generation for certification reporting of adhesive and composite products in either of two laboratories ? The Film Laboratory or the Paste/Wet Laboratory.  The activities include the following:

? Raw Materials acceptance testing/documentation

? Intermediates acceptance testing/documentation

? Finished Goods acceptance specimen preparation/documentation production records evaluation prior to release of product for shipment.

 Principal Accountabilities

1)  Performs routine and non-routine tests without direct supervision.

 

2)  Analyzes and interprets test results and determines acceptability.

 

3)  Provides leadership in short term scheduling activities.

 

4)  Enters data in lab notebooks, computer databases, and test reports.  Ensures other Lab Technicians complete necessary documentation appropriately. 

 

5)  Utilizes statistical techniques (SPC, SQC) in daily Quality functions.

 

6)  Release materials for packaging or inventory.

 

7)  Train and assist other technicians as assigned.

 

8)  Compares SLP to customer spec for appropriateness of methodology and materials.

 

9)  Records time spent against work orders.

 

10)  Other duties as assigned.

? Must follow all applicable policies, procedures and guidelines.  This includes the safe and proper operation of any/all applicable machinery and equipment.

? This position requires proficiency in basic tool manipulation including mixing equipment, lab glassware, testing machines and other standard lab tools.

? Must be proficient with related business and quality systems.

? Practice good housekeeping habits throughout the facility with focus and personal contributions towards a clean and organized assigned work area at the end of the assigned shift.

? Able to adjust to changes in workflow, prioritize as needed, and meet deadlines.

? Effectively work in a team environment.

 

 Education & Professional Requirements

 High School graduate and two years of college chemistry or related science courses.

? A minimum of 2 years experience as a Lab Technician in a business setting is highly desired.  Demonstrated proficiency at routine mathematics, which includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.Experience with basic tool manipulation including mixing equipment, lab glassware, testing machines, and other standard lab tools.Previous laboratory experience in a business setting desired.Solid computer skills to manipulate and graph data and report experimental work.Ability to work in a team environment and work on multiple projects.Solid communication and interpersonal skills.Be available for rotating or designed shifts.
