Social Science Analyst

Job Requirements:
Candidate should have a Bachelor Degree in Economics, another quantitative social science field, market research, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Education should include more than one course in applied statistical analysis, and the candidate should document familiarity with the use of at least one statistical software package. Candidates should typically possess excellent skills and three or more years of experience in analysis. They should have experience with survey research design, implementation, and analysis. Strong skills and experience in project management, teamwork, developing good working relationships, attention to detail, and in written and oral communication are needed. Candidates must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software.

Preferences:
Degree: MBA/MA/MS. Masters Degree in Economics, another quantitative social science field, or market research strongly preferred. Educational background should include graduate coursework in applied statistical analysis. Education beyond a Masters Degree is a plus. Substantial experience in applied statistical analysis. Demonstrated experience with SAS analysis software and database systems. Some familiarity with mainframe databases.

Typical Responsibilities:
This position is in a group that designs and manages studies and analyses needed to assess and improve programs aimed at increasing utility customers? energy efficiency and conservation and reducing their peak energy usage. Studies include ex post measurement and estimation of the energy savings actually created by specific energy-saving measures and programs, process evaluations that assess the effectiveness of program design and implementation, and many types of market analyses that provide information needed to develop and run an effective portfolio of programs. The analyst will design, conduct, and present analyses by obtaining and using data from a broad array of sources, including studies like these and secondary sources. They analyst may use existing or devise new models and methodologies to carry out the analysis. Analyses are requested for program managers, corporate officers and management, regulatory staff, local governments, and other stakeholders. The analyst will work with market assessment and evaluation project managers in designing and managing studies and will provide functional direction to support personnel who draw data from company and program databases.
