Sr. R&D Chemist

Adecco Scientific is currently seeking Sr. R&D Chemist for our client located in Torrance, CA. These are temp to hire positions.

JOB FUNCTION:
The Sr. R&D Chemist has acquired a solid experience in Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis, with experience both in Boc and Fmoc chemistry. Should have hands on experience with manual SPPS under cGMP conditions. Willing to apply know-how in SPPS to the automation of peptide synthesis using the department Automated Large Scale Peptide Synthesizer (CsBio). As a member of the Research and Development team he/she conducts or supervises developmental synthesis of new API, designs in coordination with the Director of Research new purification strategies and implements them. His basic knowledge of GMP procedure allows him to design and execute processes easily transferred to cGMP production. Attention to details, excellent procedure recording, and good communication skills facilitate the transfer of these processes to production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Supervise large scale manual SPPS of new R&D projects and/or cGMP early investigation process.
? Develop a process to use the automatic SPPS under GMP regulation.
? Design, conduct or supervise new R&D purification procedure.
? Contribute to the good organization of the common spaces of the R&D department.
? Contribute to the maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical HPLC and preparative HPLC.
? Evaluate performance of staff and train staff.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Write process description and transfer of developed strategies to production.
? Document analytical results for the benefit of production and other departments.
? Write analytical reports and summaries.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
? BS in Chemistry with at least two years experience in a GMP accredited peptide production company, or lower chemistry degree (e.g. Chemical Technical College) with at least four years experience in a GMP accredited peptide synthesis company.
? Good English skills, both written and oral.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION:
? Hands on experience with solid phase peptide synthesis (manual), automatic SPPS optional.
? Two- plus years experience in peptide analysis (RP-HPLC) and purification (preparative RP-HPLC, IEC-HPLC).
? Previous experience in industry is a must.
