Position Description:

Pittsburg & Midway Mining Company (P&M) is accepting online applications for the position of a Technology Development Manager (0608-50160399) located in Mountain Pass, California through August 23, 2006.

Reporting to the Vice President of Technology, this position is responsible for management of all laboratory activities related to the Technology Group including personnel, projects, equipment, planning, pilot plants, scale-up, reporting, and documentation. Responsible for the development, notification and documentation of all intellectual property pertaining to the Technology Group. Responsible for project planning, execution, scale up to manufacturing, and marketing in conjunction with the Marketing Department.

Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

1. Laboratory Operations
a. Management of Technical/Professional personnel
b. Safety -Work with the Sight Safety Officer to maintain the laboratory safety program.
c. Research Equipment - Oversight of dedicated instrumentation. This includes maintenance, support, and capital planning.
d. Technical Documentation - Management of the Molycorp Technology Report System, including Experiment Report Forms, Monthly Reports, and Molycorp

Technology Reports.
2. Technical Development Projects
a. Project planning: The successful candidate will participate with Marketing Personnel to develop strong, executable project plans.
b. Project Execution: The successful candidate will be responsible for all stages of project execution, including, laboratory development, and process identification
c. Team with Engineering Manager to execute pilot scale projects
d. Participate in scaling processes to manufacturing
e. In conjunction with Marketing, develop effective product introduction programs. The successful candidate will interact with customers and project partners to validate and develop technology offerings.

3. Intellectual Property Protection
a. Invention notification
b. Invention documentation
c. Communication with Corporate Patent Council and participation with IP
Council in filing applications.

4. Participation in technology identification
a. The successful candidate will participate in identification and qualification of valuable technologies.

5. Coordination and oversight of Cross Functional Teams
a. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordination and effective operation of cross-functional teams.

6. Management and coordination of all OEMS standards and procedures that pertain to development projects

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:

- Bachelor?s degree required in Chemistry.

- Master?s degree required.
