PRIVATE TRAINER/PROGRAM DIRECTOR
REPORTS TO: Fitness Manager, Assistant Fitness Manager
OVERVIEW: Design and monitor safe, effective and results oriented fitness programs and eating strategies; supervise the fitness area to insure proper use of equipment and a high level of member service. Maintain strong sales productivity and consistent client base.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
PROGRAMMING
w Document member information accurately, neatly, completely, and in a timely manner.
w Follow company protocol for greeting, goal setting, health history, assessments, program design and documentation.
w Promote, design and instruct proper eating strategies following PTS guidelines.
w Develop safe and effective exercise programs utilizing progression; programs are consistent with member?s goals/needs.
w Demonstrate and instruct proper use of equipment with regard to muscle stabilization, body alignment and execution.
w Give clear, concise instruction before and during activity.
SALES
w Consistently demonstrate a sales through service philosophy.
w Demonstrate effective sales skills by determining wants and needs, build rapport and customize presentation.
w Take a proactive approach to client retention by developing solid relationships and serving each member above and beyond expectations.
w Maintain good sales production for private training, PTS and other fitness services.
w Maintain a minimum of 20 hours per week with the majority of hours from PT sessions.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
w Continuously circulate throughout the gym, spend the appropriate time with each member, provide form corrections/spots, answer questions, and schedule appointments.
w Utilize thank-you cards, make consistent follow-up calls, review and update workout cards.
w Promote all Club services and programs.
w Maintain fitness area in a clean and orderly fashion by racking dumbbells, barbells and plates; picking up towels, newspapers and trash.
w Report any unsafe or hazardous conditions observed in the gym including equipment (especially cables), carpet, mirrors, etc.
w Incorporate safety awareness into daily activities.
w Complete paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
w Enforce member policies and procedures.
w Attend all staff workshops and meetings.
w All other duties as assigned.
MEMBER SERVICE
w Demonstrate an approachable, service oriented, friendly, outgoing demeanor at all times, establish solid member relationships.
w Respond to member?s questions and concerns in a timely, professional manner.
w Demonstrate understanding of all points outlined in the Company Member Service Standards.
w Demonstrate awareness of the importance of membership sales and member retention.
w Represent the Company in a positive and professional manner at all times,
w Demonstrate the values presented in our Company philosophy statements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
w NASM CPT certification required. New hires must complete this requirement within six months of hire date.
w ACE, NSCA or ACSM, or NASM Certification and/or a degree in progress in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sports Medicine; or equivalent preferred.
w Current CPR Certification.
w Practical experience in the field.
w Knowledge of current fitness trends and safety practices.
w Flexible schedule. Capable of maintaining a minimum of 20 hours per week with the majority of hours coming from private training sessions.
w Sharp athletic personal image, maintain regular conditioning program.
w Prefer ability to program for the following special populations
w De-conditioned
w Children
w Orthopedic & Medical Conditions
w Seniors
w Sports specific
w Sales experience preferred.

Physical Activities
w Requires a wide range of constant physical activities, including but not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.

w Requires close, distance, peripheral vision and depth perception
