Software Engineer III

I. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

A. Customer Service

1.  Deliver 5 Star Customer Service to internal and external customers.

2.  Seek to understand customers? needs for software development.

3.  Mutually agree on your customer?s requirements and performance expectations.

4.  Ensure your performance meets and exceeds your customer?s expectations.

 B. Leadership

 

1.  Demonstrate initiative, direction and vision for software development projects.

2. Technical mentor and lead for computer programmers and software engineers

3. Identify opportunities for efficiency in processes.

4. Identify outsourcing opportunities.

5.  Evaluate and recommend new technologies.

6.  Strong business skills.

 C. Software Writing

 

1. Troubleshoot and fix reported defects and release patches and service packs.

2.  Create and implement internally developed software applications, Intranet, Internet and Extranet applications.

3. Perform the design, code and integration.

4. Document software properly including design, user guides and admin guides.

5. Ability to comply and enforce Pac West processes D. Software and Hardware Support

 

1.  Provide escalation path for Maintenance Service Request (MSRs) for the Software Development Help Desk.

2. Provide support for server administration.

E. Training

 

1.  Assist and train other programmers and software engineers.

2. Provide subject matter expertise training as part of product/project roll out.

3.  Continue to learn more about Pac-West?s operations, hardware and software procedures, and language references

 

II. SKILLS/JOB KNOWLEDGE  A.  Education

 

1. Bachelor?s Degree in a technical field or six years+ of equivalent experience required.

2. Master?s Degree in a technical field not needed, but preferred.

3.  Certifications:

a. Certification needed in core language or competency.

b.  Additional official industry standard certification (JAVA, Oracle, etc.).

B.  Skills & Job Knowledge

 

1. Six years experience in application architecture and/or software development.

2.  Understanding of the 5 Star Customer Service dimensions including reliability, responsiveness, empathy, assurance and tangibles.

3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

4. Take initiative to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner.

5. Expert understanding of the following (technologies vary per management needs):

a. Java, J2EE, JDBC, EJBs, JMS, JMX

b.  JBOSS or Weblogic

c. SQL and DB (Sybase, Oracle and SQL sever)

d.  JSPs, Servlets, SOAP, WSDL, ColdFusion

e. Linux, Unix

f.  Good knowledge of distributed environment.

g. Hibernate, Xdoclet, VoIP

 

III.  PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

A.  All Areas of Responsibility

Develop clearly written and concise software using industry best practices.4. Complete all projects on-time, on-scope, and on-budget.5. Produce comments throughout source code sufficient for others to understand the operation of any software module.6. Demonstrate good engineering, problem solving and analytical abilities7.  Continually identify and take advantage of opportunities to improve and enhance skills and overall knowledge of Pac-West operations.

8. Continually study to remain current in the industry paying close attention to trends in new and developing technologies.

9. Produce technical manuals for every new software development project.
