Telecommunications Equipment Installer
Job Description:
? Equipment installers are responsible for the installation of equipment used in voice, video, fiber optics and data telecommunications networks. The work will involve the installation of cable, installation superstructure, wiring, and telecommunications equipment in various locations such as central offices, or on company premises.
? Capable of performing as In-Charge person.
? Capable of performing additions, removals, wiring connections and modifications on working equipment and circuits.
? Capable of equipment testing and turn-ups.
? Addition and/or removal of Common Systems equipment/hardware:
? frames/bays/racks in line-ups and stanchions
? Auxiliary framing (support frame, cable racks, ladders, conduit, etc.)
? Cable rack deck, cable brackets, fastening material, cable ladder racks (ladder, bar, fiber management/raceway, earthquake bracing, etc.)
? Distribution frame verticals, horizontals, and terminal blocks.
? Miscellaneous hardware guard rails, brackets, appliance outlets
? Addition and/or removal of wiring and connections (on non-working equipment only.)
? Read and interprets job specifications, prints, drawing, Methods and Procedures.
? Job logs, JIMs, MOP
? Lead verification - continuity testing of cables and wires using appropriate methods and test equipment. Completion of testing reports.
? Assist and performs tests per applicable installation manual or engineering specifications.
? Mounting, wire and connection of shelves, panels, interfaces, electronics.
? Performs cabling, power and grounding activities.
? Cable runs, sewing, labeling.
? Prepare twisted pair, butt, strip, place connector, crimp, wire- wrapping/color code understanding.
? H-taps, In-Line reducers, power lugs, distribute -48V power.
? Use of hand tools and test equipment.
? Understand and use established safety practices.
? Quality awareness and ability to implement quality control processes.
? Follow directions, work in a team environment. Perform general equipment installation tasks.
? Install circuit packs while observing handling and electrostatic discharge precautions.
Job Requirements:
? Valid CA driver?s license and an excellent driving record.
? Qualified candidates must pass pre-employment testing; drug screen and background check.
? High school diploma or GED.
? Ability to work on ladders up to 15 feet. Demonstrated manual dexterity, and lift and carry loads up to 40 lbs.
? Work well within a team, demonstrating leadership abilities.
? Satisfactory written/reading/communication skills in the English language.
? Good customer service skills.
? Be adaptable to changing environments.
? Have reliable transportation and tools.
? Willing to travel primarily in the Bay Area and Northern California
? 3-6 years of experience in related or equivalent field.
? Basic knowledge of electricity AC/DC.
? Able to run multiple jobs simultaneously.
? Computer literate.
? Installation knowledge of fiber optics, facilities, transmission and other associated equipment.
