Technical Design Manager -Apparel

Sundance Catalog Company, a rapidly growing Salt Lake City company, has an excellent opportunity for a Technical Design Manager in the Apparel Department. This position is responsible for managing in tandem with the additional Technical team, all aspects of apparel development from concepts & design hand off to top of production for catalog, internet and retail channels of distribution. This position is also responsible for managing the apparel product development sourcing base. Working in collaboration with the additional Technical Manager and Merchandiser on seasonal design concepts, merchandising plans, assortment direction, design, repeat styles as well as reducing overall and specific return rates. He or she will develope and manage relationships with vendors and factories and ensure consistent and accurate fit across all product categories.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

?  Receives the design specification requests and implements them into PD specification packages ensuring production feasibility & timeliness as well as working within retail requirements.

?  Meets with agents, vendors and factories seasonally to ensure product understanding and sample timeliness. Manages the communication between Sundance and the resource.

?  Reviews sourcing base seasonally and advises recommendations.

?  Ensures photo sample dates are met.

?  Reviews all phases of sample development to spec and comments.

?  Manages the PD process and calendar.

?  Shared responsibility (with additional Tech Manager) for entire fit process, specifications, and implementation across all categories including private label accounts ? trains IC, QC and CC on process and methodology.

?  Meets with merchandising team on a regular basis to review current and post mortem sales information and leverages this information to improve catalog performance.

?  Manages and leads assistant technical managers to achieve divisional goals and develop subordinates to their maximum potential.

?  Responsible for maintaining or bettering in collaboration with design and merchandising a return rate of 28% for the apparel area. Acts as a customer advocate for product fit and quality.

?  Accountable together with Inventory Control manager for an initial service level/initial fill rate of 80% on all new products.

?  Supports the selling efforts of the Phone Center and Internet with timely information and training.

?  Performs other duties as necessary.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

?  Bachelor?s degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or five years related experience and/or on-the-job training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

?  Technical design experience required.
