Animal Behavior Assistant

 

The Humane Society of Broward County, Inc.  is a non-profit organization providing a vast array of adoption, education, and support services for animals. Currently we are in search of a behavioral assistant. This is a part-time position, with a salary range from $10-12/hour. This varied and responsible opportunity is well suited to an individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic and stimulating environment. 

 

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on individual that is able to communicate effectively.  This outstanding assistant must be able to work independently, show initiative and thrive in a dynamic environment. This individual should have excellent organizational and communication skills. You must be able to fully utilize MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). This candidate should have animal behavior knowledge.

 

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

Oversee all aspects of the Dog Obedience classes and Puppy Pre-School.

Train and oversee volunteers for the Behavior Helpline and answer behavior calls.

Assist adoption counselors in suites with basic behavior questions.

Assist and recruit volunteers for in-house dog training program. 

 

Qualifications:

Proficiency with Microsoft word, Excl, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Proficiency with general office duties (copying, filing, typing, etc).

Good public skills.

Knowledge of behavior in dogs and cats.
