Veterinary Assistant

Job Purpose

-To be a part of a team oriented workplace. Supportive animal care, following Doctors instructions, cleaning, restrining animals.

 

Duties:

-Working with experinced animal techinician

-Learning proper animal restraint for blood draws, injections and fluid  treatment

-Grooming dogs and cats, brushing, bathing, ear cleanings.
-Providing assistance to technicians and doctors as directed

-Explaining animals status to owners

-Showing clients into examination rooms, getting animals history and current vital signs (temprature, weight, ect..)

-Maintains animals by feeding and watering animals; cleaning animals' rooms, cages, and equipment; changing cages; administering medications.

-Maintains safe, secure, healthy and humane environment by sanitizing and disinfecting holding and support areas; following standards and procedures.

 

-Keeps the hospital clean by vacuming, mopping and cleaning cages

-Keps supplies ready by inventory stock; verifying receipt of orders.


-Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
