Supervisor

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in providing services directly to customers

 

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

? Provides direct supervision of employees performing waste collection, dispatch and/or customer service work 

? Resolves unusual or nonscheduled service requests, equipment breakdowns, and schedule changes.

? Performs administrative activities, including reviewing and processing route sheets or time sheets or other work time documents.

? Develops work schedules to match manpower levels, makes work assignments and monitors progress to improve work process efficiency.  May also plan routes to provide the most efficient service to customers. 

? Provides status reports to next level management, and substantiates payroll, customer billing, and business plans.

? Coordinates with other departments and customers to change or improve customer service.

? Responds effectively and courteously to customer service inquiries, requests or complaints. 

? Understands, implements, and maintains safe work practices. 

? Performs supervisory function participating in hiring, training, scheduling and performance management decisions. 

? Conducts employee observations to ensure safety and productivity procedures are being followed.  Documents and discusses results with employees. 

? Responds to driver reports of problem pick ups such as unsafe conditions or hazardous waste. 

? Investigates accidents, injuries or property damage claims. 

? On occasion, may be required to drive route vehicles to cover shortages in staff or missed pick ups.

? Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

PHYSICAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:

? Ability to organize various office systems through adjusting, connecting, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending or folding for the purpose of proper records development and/or management.

? Ability to drive heavy diesel truck making frequent stops and climbing in and out of truck cab, as needed.



 

ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC WORKING CONDITIONS:

? Primarily usual office environment. 

? Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures. 

? May be exposed to solvents and chemicals, and refuse in trucks. 

? Other risks associated with working around machines, tools and trucks. 

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

?  Knowledge of DOT and other related state and federal regulations.

 

Experience and Education:

? High School diploma or general education degree required 

? Two years of related supervisory experience required, waste industry experience preferred 

? Previous experience as a driver preferred 

? An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

? Class B CDL required

 

 

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Software USED:

? Microsoft Office including Word and Excel

? InfoPro, Route Editor/Route Auditor, RMS/CMS, Trux 

? Usual office equipment including computer, phone, fax machine, copier and calculator. 

  Two way radio

 

MUST BE BILINGUAL IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH
