Upstream Environmental Technician

National Accounts Sales & Service?Indianapolis, IN In-Plant Services Technician  

Position Description:

 

?  Collect and autoclave biohazardous waste from customers.  Complete cleaning & maintenance logs and autoclave records. 

?  Collect hazardous and non-hazardous waste from customers.  Complete waste tags. Segregate and store waste in the 90-day storage area as to compatibility, hazard class, and disposal facility requirements.  Consolidate hazardous waste for disposal according to waste profiles and compatibility.  Bulk solvents wearing full-face APR respirator.  Segregate waste by DOT hazard classes, EPA waste codes, and according to waste profile.  Conduct weekly inspections of dumpsters, 90-day storage areas, and outside containment. 

?  Comply with guidelines established for the assigned project, applicable EPA and DOT regulations, health and safety guidelines, and company policies and customer policies.

?  Keep work areas clean and organized.  Keep supplies stocked.

?  May be called upon to assist with emergency response and spill clean up. 

?  Organize documents in binders, filing cabinets, folders, etc.

?  Operate forklift, pallet jack, and walk-behind as needed.

?  This individual may work independently without immediate supervision on client sites.

?  Position may require company reimbursed overnight travel for on-the-job and classroom training opportunities.

 

Qualifications:

 

?  Experience in an Environmental, Waste, Hazardous Materials or related industry is preferred.

?  Bachelor?s Degree or Associates Degree with 1-3 years related experience preferred. Chemistry / Environmental Science majors preferred. 

?  40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification is preferred.

?  Must be able to respond to common inquiries, complaints, etc. from customers.

?  Must have a solid understanding of a Microsoft Office environment.

?  All candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

?Candidates must be willing to relocate at their own expense.
